H.E. Rashid Bin Fahd launches envirocities e- magazine
Dubai Municipality and Environmental Centre for Arab Towns jointly have released recently a new e- magazine, namely envirocities, which deals with local ,regional and international environmental issues. The official launch of the e-magazine was done by H.E Rashid bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water.
“The issue of environment is of prime importance nowadays. The whole future of humanity depends upon how we treat our nature, its water, air and soil..” said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and who is also the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Environmental Centre for Arab Towns.
“Preservation of environment is not a task to be carried out only by governments. Each and every single person should realize it as his individual responsibility” added Lootah.
While describing the aims and objective of the new e- initiative Lootah said “To educate citizen well on the issue so as to help him play his role in the eco-friendly sustainable development we aim at, is the most needed. New web journal, we believe, should have a great deal in imparting the awareness.”
Eng. Mohammed Al Noury, Director General, Environmental Centre for Arab Towns, said that the Centre was always keen to introduce initiatives to help people live in accordance with best environmental practices. To develop environmental behaviours among society and change the attitudes is of prime importance for a better world tomorrow.
“A model environment friendly daily lifestyle should be constructed and practiced, and the journal may pave the way towards this goal” he hoped.
Mr. Paolo Cervini, General Manager of Philips lighting Middle East &Turkey, also participated in the launching event.
Environmental Centre for Arab Towns is a scientific research institute dealing with cities and urban areas with the aspects of environment and sustainable development. The centre is working under Dubai Municipality and is having affiliation with Arab Towns Organization
