Sheikh Maktoum officially opens Cityscape in Dubai
HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially inaugurated the tenth edition of Cityscape Global in Dubai today, accompanied by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO and chairman of the Emirates Group, chairman of Dubai World and president of the Department of Civil Aviation.
This year represents a decade of Cityscape events in Dubai. The event will host 150 exhibitors from more than 28 countries, showcasing the latest projects and upcoming developments throughout the next three days.
Rohan Marwaha, MD of Cityscape, said: “ Dubai has grown to become recognised as one of the leading international cities to do business, located ideally as a bridge between emerging and mature markets.”
Speaking at the inauguration of the Future Cities conference at Cityscape, Dubai Municipality director general HE Hussain Nasser Lootah said the emirate was committed to sustainable development, and ensuring that Dubai – as one of the fastest-developed urban areas in the world – remained at the forefront of town planning and green building.
Current ‘green’ initiatives being investigated by Dubai Municipality include converting all lighting in recreational parks to solar lighting, converting all government vehicles to gas-driven vehicles, and assessing the feasibility of generating power from landfill sites by harvesting methane.
